Hi,
>>>is this true? <<< No; the only thing it might do is cause an irritation.
>>>What can I do or use to make it smaller other that surgery? <<< Since you're sexually active, you need to begin seeing a gynecologist (or internist) who can provide you with information re. your concerns (such as this one) and also perform necessary testing to ensure your gynecological health now and later in your life. Many teenage girls are hesitant to go to their first GYN appointment, but most are very glad after they do go. It's like having a shot when you're a child - the anticipation is the worst part. GYNs today are very respectful and understanding of young women's need for privacy, explanations, and patience with first exams. Your doctor would never force you into surgery, nor would she tell your mother something you don't want her to. She doesn't have to go in for your appointment, either, or she could come in at the end with you for a very generalized overview of how things went, if you choose. You're at a perfectly normal age to begin seeing a GYN, and it's one of those things you're going to have to do eventually anyway. Plus if you have a problem at some point, it will be a lot nicer to have a doctor you know and trust to help you. If you aren't comfortable telling her the truth, just tell your mother something vague such as you have some menstrual concerns, cramps, or an irritation or something to that effect, and set up an appointment. Take care, Kas
