Uterine Fibroids can cause problems with several things, bleeding, pain and growth with pressure on adjacent organs. They are rarely malignant. Sounds like hers are painful and may be growing. Hysterectomy is an alternative, as is just the removal of the fibroids, depending on where they are located. Some docs will cut off their blood supply and this may help shrink them and diminish the pain, but the pain increases following the performance of the procedure.
