Daniel Braun, MD: "Re: [Birth Control] birth control+breast enlargement" I had an ASCUS pap test 10 years ago and they did a colposcopy, which showed no serious abnormalities. All my yearly PAPs since then have been fine. Now, at age 31, I have had 2 worrisome PAP tests in a row. One was about 10 months ago (during my 2nd pregnancy) which showed Mild Dysplasia. A Colposcopy confirmed this. The doctor recently did a repeat PAP after I gave birth and it showed Moderate Dysplasia. He did a Colposcopy with LEEP yesterday and remarked that the solution he placed in the vagina had caused not only the cervical cells to turn white, but also some in the vagina, which caused him to order a test for HPV Typing, which had never been done on me before. I await the lab results of these procedures. He said that depending on the type of HPV that I have, it will tell him how dangerous this is. Can someone explain to me how the HPV Type might affect the progression / treatment of precancerous cells, and what is the meaning of the vaginal cells turning white (in addition to some cervical cells) when bathed in the solution? He said that the abnormal cervical cells do not seem to go beyond the membrane layer, but now I worry about the vaginal cells. And about the Type of HPV... Thanks for any thoughts. Next message: R.
