Ask what the abnormality was. It could be severe, but without the pap report, we have nothing to go on. If the pap came back cancer, carcinoma in situ, or HGSIL, they would be more aggressive. On the other hand, you may just have a very aggressive doctor. With one of my doctors, I got immediate colposcopies for ASCUS paps, every 3 months for a year. With my new insurance and doctor, I just get repeat paps after one colpo.
