Bartholin/granulation tissueFrom: Melanie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 May 2002 15:20:34 -0500 (CDT)
I was diagnosed 4/01 with a Bartholin cyst. It drained on its own after a few days, and everything seemed to be fine. In late August, I started having pain during intercourse, went in to the Gyn, and was told I had some granulation tissue. It was cauterized with silver nitrate. I would then be okay for a few weeks, but then it returned. I was cauterized two more times, and then sent to a plastic surgeon. He basically made new cuts, stitched me up, and at the follow up he said it looked the same as prior to the surgery. I am now scheduled in the OR with my Gyn for more explanation. Apparently the plastic surgeon was able to probe a few cm, so they are now thinking there's some kind of fistula. I guess my major concern is, can I expect to be any better after this surgery than now? I am afraid that intercourse may become even more impossible than it is now... There has been discussion of excising the Bartholin gland, if that it what's causing the problem... Thank you.
