I Also have her first book, "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom". I do have some problems with "The Wisdom of Menopause". One, I really don't think she gives a whole lot of useful information or practical tips for dealing with menopause, or hte physiology of menopause. Like you, I think there was way to much stuff aobut her divorce and financial difficulties that didn't really relate to helping you, the reader (hey, I'm guilty about including personal stuff in my book, but I at least tried to do it as sidebars you didn't have to read if you didn't want to!) Dr Northrup follows a more holistic view of medicine, one that believes that stress and unresolved life issues can be manifested in certain physical conditions -- I think this is interesting, and may in fact have some grain of truth to it, but it certainly is not the whole answer -- otherwise I -- and probably most of you -- would be one big mass of endometriosis and fibroids, and I barely get a cramp with my periods!! It is a book worth checking out of the library, to read along with other books on menopause, but I don't think I would plunk down $20+ for it.
