Laproscopy

My Reproductive Endocrinologist wants to schedule a Laproscopy because of chronic pelvic pain he thinks could be because of endometriosis and to make sure my tubes are clear. I have an 18 month old son, conceived w/o any intervention after 3 years of trying (during the 3 years of trying we had a document male factor cause as well as my sporadic ovulations). I have only had one period that was not induced since the birth of my son and went to the RE to help with the lack of ovulation, but he won't treat that problem until he confirms that my tubes are clear. My internal medicine doctor and my regular ob/gyn don't see the need for the laproscopy because they say that because I am trying to get pregnant and have documented fertility proving that I have endo wouldn't change their course of treatment.

My questions:

Is there any evidence that treating endometriosis surgically is beneficial does any good after fertility has been shown?

Is it standard practice to have to demonstrate that someone's tubes are clear before helping them with ovulation AFTER the tubes have already been shown when both a previous HSG (3 years ago) and a pregnancy have already demonstrated it?

What would you advise me to do?
