Prometrium - When to Take?From: Abigail (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 2 Mar 2002 19:01:28 -0600 (CST)
I am feeling completely dumb and need some advice. I have taken Prometrium 300 mg for the "first 10 days of my cycle" as my Doctor prescribed for the last 7 months. During this 7 months, I have had NO withdrawal bleed. I called my Doctor at the 3 month and 6 month points of time and she said that she doesn't need to see me until my annual exam in May and didn't seem concerned with the "no bleed". Here's the dumb part...I consider the "first 10 days of my cycle" as the first 10 white pills in my birth control pack. Is this correct? I didn't think to ask my Doctor to clarify this as I didn't see this as a point needing clarification, but I have today begun to wonder if the Doctor meant for me to begin the Prometrium with the beginning of my placebo pills. It is Sat and I need to begin the pills again and cannot call until Mon. (Believe it or not I never considered this until just this moment!) I'm feeling VERY dumb! OR...does the timing really matter? May I still have a bleed by taking it the way I have been. I have not had ANY bleeding AT ALL in the past 7 months and had very slight 2 day periods, albeit regular, prior to the Prometrium. Thank you for clearing this up for me.
