progesterone and luteal phase defectFrom: stacy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Feb 2002 18:57:42 -0600 (CST)
I am 27 years old, healthy and about 4 1/2 weeks pregnant. Prior to this pregnancy, I found out that I had a blighted ovum at my 10 week prenatal appointment. My husband and I were seeing a reproductive specialist (he has low sperm count but good motility) and had my progesterone checked 7 days after ovulation. The level was 13.8. The reproductive specialist mentioned that I have a short luteal phase (10 days of elevated temperatures), and that it might be a problem. I have had normal periods since going off ortho tri cyclen 10 months ago (27 days). My question is-Could the short luteal phase have caused my miscarriage? And-should I ask my doctor about progesterone supplements at my 6 week ultrasound appointment?
