Hi Steve,

Yes, the Morning After pill is an option. If your girlfriend was on birth control for 8 days, she ShOULD be protected, as it only taked 7 days to be effective.

If you are concerned about this, you can call Planned Parenthood 1 800 230 PLAN. They persribe the morning after pill. You can also talk to your doctor. If your are in the state of Washington, you can go to the Rite Aid, or Fred Meyer Pharmacy and get it from them without a perscription. It's about $35.00

Generally, birth control and the morning after pill are too much hormones for a woman, but it won't hurt her to take the morning after pill.

The morning after pill is effective up to 72 hours (3days) after sex. There are type A and Type B pills, I believe that the type B pill of more effective. Double check with the pharmacist.

The morning after pill is NOT the abortion pill.

It is reccommended to use back up during the first month of being on the pill, but they take 7 days to become effective. Still some controversy over this.....

Take care,
