Re: lump/mass near left hipbone, sharp stabbing pain-SusanFrom: D.N. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 22 Feb 2002 09:28:25 -0600 (CST)
Hi Susan, This sounds similar to what I have. It is a lymph node permanently swollen left side between where the leg joins the body up about 3 inches. I have had a total hyst with left ovary removed due to fibroids and endo. Right ovary later removed because of endo. At the first surgery I had extensive endo binding my uterus, ovary and sigmoid colon together. Now I have ovarian remnant syndrome. I still ovulate and have cycles. I know I have cycles because the pain is in this lymph node area. Sometimes the pain is so bad that I hurts to get up from sitting or to sneeze is horrible. I do get sharp pains too. The pain can be burning, stabbing, sharp, crampy and achey. I know I have adhesions that play a part in the pain, but there is a definate cyclical nature to the pain. Since you have pain there when you have a period, I would strongly suspect that it is endo. Mention it to your doctor, especially since your family history is positive for endo. Please write back if you have anymore questions. Best wishes, D.N.
