GI's don't do pelvic exams, at least mine didn't. My first visit to the GI doc was about 30 mins, tops including a talk with him and the nurse when she went over instructions for a Colonoscopy. All the GI did was read the papers I filled out (family & personal history, insurance info, etc), talk to me and find out what had ben going on. He also did a brief exam just by listening to my bowels. He determined I had IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and prescribed some Levbid (its a bowel relaxant) and told me when the Colonoscopy was set for. After the Colonoscopy turned out to be fine, I was told to contact him if anything pertaining to the GI tract was to change. Good luck and I don't see how they are saying your GI will need 2 hours with you. In 2 hours, you could have a surgical procedure performed and out of recovery. 2 hours for a GI initial exam is nuts.
