[Birth Control] Bartholin's gland cysts and Diabetes

I experienced a burning sensation and discomfort, much like a bladder infection. I went to the Doctor and she said that I have two Bartholin's gland cysts. I am 41 and was put on Cipro and an analgesic for the burning sensation. I went back to the Doctor a week later and she said the cysts were about a third smaller in size. I have read that Bartholin's gland cysts were uncommon in women over 40, but was told that My Diabetes (type 2) could be the culprit. Is this true?
