[Birth Control] 'inevitable abortion'

I was diagnosed with an inevitable abortion at 6wks, 1 day gestation. This confussed me because my cervix was (is) closed. Although I was bleeding, the gestational sac, which was noted as "deformed", was in tact. The fetal heartrate was at 87 then 78 and the placenta seems to be attached directly on my cervix. This is my second pregnancy. I have a 16 month old son. As far as I have been informed or understand the above diagnosis was given because of the reasons I've explained. Is fetal death inevitable under these circumstances? Please help.
