something serious?From: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 5 Feb 2002 10:20:44 -0600 (CST)
I am 20 years old and my periods have always been pretty regular. Some months I'll have two but I always have at least one. I have always had very painful cramps during the first days of my period. Last month I started having them a couple of days after my period ended, along with some spotting. I made a gyn appointment after this. I ended up canceling b/c I started bleeding the day before my appointment. The first 4 days were very light, like spotting. The last 3 days have been very heavy. This is not normal. Usually my periods last 5 days at the most and the first two or three days are heavy. Whenever I stop bleeding again I'm going to make another appointment...I was just wondering if this could be something serious, if I need to hurry and make an appointment anyway? I was already concerned b/c my ex-fiance didn't use any form of contraception for almost 2 years, not even withdrawl. We believed he couldn't have children, which we now now isn't the case. Any insight is welcome.
