Painful intercourse after hysterectomyFrom: Kim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Dec 2001 09:49:32 -0600 (CST)
I am 36 and had a TVH, kept ovaries on Sept 18 2001. The reason for the hyst was cervical stenosis following and extensive cone biopsy for abnormal paps associated with high risk HPV. I had a vaginal bacterial infection and a yeast infection post op. I continue to have a yellow discharge, no smell, no itch, nor burning that my doc says is irritation from sutures in the vaginal cuff that are not completely dissolved. I was cleared for sex at 8 weeks, I am now about 3 months post op and my husband and I have had sex about once a week since it was ok'd. My question: Penetration seems to be difficult. It feels like my husband has to push past a lip or ridge at the beginning of my vagina in order to get full or even half penetration. During intercourse I feel stretched and sore but not real pain. I continue to have the same exact orgasms as I did prior to the hyst. After sex I also have some cramping in what I think is the vaginal cuff area. Is this normal after a vaginal hyst? Would more frequent intercourse "stretch" things out so it would be more comfortable? Could it be some kind of scar tissue? I have an appointment to see my GYN in 3 weeks for my annual exam and will discuss it with him but would appreciate any info you may have Thanks Kim
