[Birth Control] Could I be pregnant

I had left an earlier post in here entitled missed pill spotting. In it I had said that I had missed a few pills and started spotting. I then took the pills I missed and caught myself up I thought. I went to the doctor because I started to bleed again and what my doctor told me is that I was having my actual period. My question is that if I started my period say Dec 19 bleed on and off very light sometimes none at all but the last trace of blood I found was on 21st. I had unprotected sex on that saturday and started the new pill pack on that sunday could I be possibly pregnant because of the way I threw my body off before with missing all those pills? If so how soon will I know if I am pregnant? I am still taking the pill reguarly and have not missed a dose.

Will I have to wait until the end of the pill pack when my period should come to take a pregnancy test? I am really concerned that I possibly could be pregnant and if I am should I still be taking the pill? Is is too soon to take a home pregnancy test?
