>>Thanks for the reply. This morning I took my fasting glucose which was 111. After eating breakfast, it rose to 170. Since I have began testing, I have read values of 71 to 170; is this a normal range to expect? I know that blood glucose rises after eating and under 200 is considered "normal"...but I can't find anything about normal fluctuations.

You still need to followup on the abnormal test result at the health department, regardless of the results of home monitoring. Home monitoring is good for watching changes in patterns of people with diabetes, but the numbers can not be used to determine whether or not a person is diabetic. Only lab testing can answer that question.

There are not well-defined, agreed-upon "normal" levels of blood glucose. Over 200 is considered diabetic in the presence of other symptoms and after a confirmatory test, but that doesn't mean that under 200 is "normal."

As indicated earlier, passing out is not a normal symptom of early diabetes. If it recurs, you should return to your doctor to look for other possible causes.
