chronic bacterial vaginosis

I have had a chronic, smelly vaginal discharge for several YEARS now. I have seen a gynecologist in the past and was diagnosed with a bacterial infection. I have tried medications, mainly oral Flagyl and the vaginal form of Flagyl. The infection usually clears up for about a week or so then comes right back. I have good hygiene, and I am not sexually active. Is there anything that can get rid of this infection once and for all.
