[Birth Control] birth control and infection

I started having intercourse with my current boyfriend about 4 years ago. We used condoms and a few months later I started using Lo Ovral bc pills. Months later I started getting a lot of vaginal infections (yeast and bacterial). I had never had any infections before. I changed many things to get rid of them, including my eating habits, but nothing helped. I was getting sick from worrying. I finally took about a year off from the pill, and only got one simple yeast infection. Last year, I started the pill again and the same thing is happening. I like the convenience of the pill and the regular periods, but I HATE the infections. Is there some other bc pill that might help, or another safe method of birth control?
