Oh The Joys....From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 21 Dec 2001 18:15:48 -0600 (CST)
History: chronic pelvic pain, unilateral oopherectomy12/4/01 (right ovary removed). On Alesse 28 bcp to help with irregular, heavy and quite often painful periods. Tubal ligation in Feb 1998. I skipped the placebo pills (per drs advice), of my last pack. Primarily to avoid the breakthrough bleeding and the discomfort associated with it, while I recovered from surgery. 2 incicion sites are infected, not bad though. Taking Keflex 4 x's day for 10 days. Starting having some spotting on 12/13/01, and still going, (on tissue everytime I use bathroom). Light pink, mixed with mucous. I figured since I was spotting, and its already been a week of this, that I would skip the next set of placebo pills to avoid another week of bleeding. This sounds logical to me. Would like some opinions on this though. I did notify my MD about it last Friday, the 14th, she said that was ok (as far as spotting goes). I also asked her what is the most amount of time a woman can skip the placbo pills and be ok.. she said no more than 3-4 continuous months, and then after that a break is recommended. If anyone has anything to add to this thought: please don't hold back :) This is strange for me, and quite frankly.. its starting to get on my nerves! (the spotting).
