-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many thanks for your reply. I followed your advice, visited my OB-Gyn -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- again and it was in fact the Bartholin's gland. The doctor said it is -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- not infected but that the exit (duct?) gets blocked therefore producing the swelling. She told me not to have sex more than once a day, to use a local anestesic gel (Xylocaine?) and to wash myseld after sex with Camomille.....Is this really going to work? Could anyone give me a faster solution? I know the gland does not get swollen to the size of a golf ball, but it is enough to put me off sex, because it is painful and it has been going on for 5 WEEKS! Would you recommend to ge it drained? ... Many thanks, Sylvia

>>My problem started a few weeks back. When I have sexual intercourse
>>with my parter, what I think is my left Batholin gland on the labia
>>majora of the vagina gets swollen to the size of a small coffee bean
>>(maybe even not that big). When pressure is applied during intercourse
>>a pinching pain is proyected inside my vagina and makes intercourse

>The Bartholin's gland is a likely suspect. Make an appointment, and
>then have sex at least once the day before, or, better yet, daily for
>2-3 days before the exam. It is unbeliveably helpful for the doc to
>actually be able to see the problem that the patient is describing.
