Small lump in rectum

Hi there, I have recently performed a self-digital rectal exam (for the first time) and noticed a very small, hard lump(maybe the size of a small pimple or the size of a pinhead) just up inside on the left wall of the rectum, right before the opening. This is not painful and I have not had any symptoms such as pain, bleeding, abnormal stools, etc. I would never had suspected a thing had I not happened to feel this. It's been few days and it is still there but it may have decreased in size a bit (from about half a pea size to a pinhead size).

I'm a 30-year-old woman who has been completely healthy. I have had some irritable bowel episodes in the past (going back 8 years) that commonly relate to heavy dairy intake or extreme stress and I do have two brothers who have had irritable bowel problems and hemorrhoids as well. But I haven't had those problems in about a year and this is such a small lump that I find it hard to relate to something like that.

Could this be an internal hemorrhoid or polyp even though it is seemingly asymptomatic and very, very small? I thought perhaps a teeny cyst but again, it is not painful although it is hard.

Thanks for any insight. :) Ann
