Dumb questionFrom: AMS (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 11 Nov 2001 20:05:50 -0600 (CST)
This may be totally off the wall, but here goes: I am scheduled for TAH/BSO in early Dec. I have recently been diagnosed with asthma and after allergy testing found to be allergic to horses among other things. I just realized that many of the estrogen preparations are called conjugated equine estrogens. Just how far removed from the horse are these estrogens? My gyn says she is going to apply an estrogen patch before I leave the operating room. I don't see the allergist again until I can drive again after the surgery and I didn't think of this while I had my pre-op consult. I really don't want a coughing fit in the recuperation period. Is this something to worry about or can I continue to bind my anxiety by preparing meals for my family and freezing them? Thank you.
