I am kind of embarrassed to expose my question but I am desperately looking for hadvice. I am 37 and never visited a Obgyn. I know it is unbelievable and not right but due to childhood traumas I just couldn't get myself together to get my annual ckeck ups done. Living in the US has made me aware of all the issues I that are not so big where I come from. I have never been very sexually active, only sporadicaly, so did not worry much about it, although it has nothing to do with it, I know that too. I first got married two years ago, our sexual life is good, however because I am so scared, embarrassed to go to the doctor we use condoms, and I know we could improve so much if we used other contraceptives, since we don't plan on having kids. Basically I feel that I need help to be literally walk by the hand to a doctor at this point, so I get the comfort I need to take this step. I was wondering if there is any kind of organization I can contact, in the state of Illinois or St. Louis (MO)area, where they have some kind of volunteers that help women in this aspect. I know there are many Obgyn women nowadays and tthat would definitely help too!!! I already feel better having looked for advice in this website, I hope I can find what I need. Thank you.
