Chlamydia....another question

How long can you have chlamydia and not show signs? My husband & I have not had any symptoms of it but are both testing positive (low positive). I am concerned because my husband & I have been married for 3 1/2 years and supposedly monogomous (I know I have been). I don't want to believe the worst in my husband but I am concerned. He insists that he has been monogomous but I still can't help but wonder am I being a fool for believing him. Do you know the max. it can go undetected? This would help me to trace maybe how we got it.....For example, can it go undetected for 10 years without being detected in men and women? If I have had it for 10 years would it be showing only a low positive result on my test or would it have done real damage to my reproductive system by now?

I've been researching this on the internet but it is hard to get any answers to my questions. Thank you for any information you can give me.
