You're not being unreasonable but it may be more than you need at 51 .... median age of menopause is 51.4. Although I have a patient with a similar story, the statistics don't necessarily stand behind doing this surgery AND your insurance company may very well not pay for it (went through this with my patient). With adequate studies and stats we got them to OK the payment and the patient changed her mind. Even with operative laparoscopy being as safe as it is, she worried about possible complications, as we must all do before any contemplated surgery.
