Marchbein, M.D.: "Re: Long and heavy cycle" I had an abortion 2 months ago and have had a normal cycle since then until this month. I am on the pill, but started my period 5 days early this cycle. I wasn't concerned since I know starting the pill can cause irregularities as can an abortion, but now am experiencing something a little strange. My periods usually last from 4-6 days and are fairly heavy the first two days, but get light through the remainder of my cycle. I bled lightly the first 5 days and was expecting my period to end soon, but awoke today to discover that my flow is pretty heavy (about as heavy s I usually am in my first couple of days) and I am now having cramping as though I have just started instead of being 6 days into it.
