Calcification in the UterusFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 28 Sep 2001 21:58:35 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 28 yrs old, and I delivered my second daughter 11 weeks ago and I'm still having post-partum bleeding and tenderness. Not heavy, just spotting. I had an ultrasound that revealed calcifications in my uterus. The doctor said my placenta appeared to be in tact at delivery. They want to do surgery to "check it out" and remove the calcifications. My appointment to discuss my options isn't for 3 weeks! And who knows when they will actually do the surgery. I'm wondering what exactly does the surgery entail? [ie..knocking me out, a D&C, laparoscopy (sorry if that is spelled wrong.) I had surgery for endometriosis 10 years ago. Is it a similar kind of surgery?] And if it wasn't a part of the placenta, what else causes calcifications in the uterus? I searched the archives, but I couldn't find anything that addressed my particular question. Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can enlighten me!
