HPV-dysplasia

I don't understand the connection between HPV and dysplasia. Can one occur without the other? I've been married (and loyal) to the same man for 35 years and my paps have been normal. Now, all of a sudden I have moderate dysplasia. I don't seem to have ANY of the risk factors for HPV, but I have that too. I have a laser surgery scheduled. My mind just won't let me alone since this was diagnosed. How in the world did I get this? Are there several ways? I certainly don't have the ones that are commonly listed. This is keeping me awake a night trying to figure this. Can you please help me? Thanks.
