What are my hormones doing to me?

Please help. I have been on Metformin for eight months now. In the first six I have lost two and a half stones, which was good. But now, my weight is static, I need to shed about another 5 - 6 stone, and my hair is falling out by the hour, it seems. My periods came back under Metformin after being 'on holiday for six months', but I am now experiencing some lack of co-operation from my cycle, i.e. my period seems to want to play games with me, as it were.

I am also on spironolactone, though in a small dose. Can anyone shed some light? What do you think may be going on? Many thanks in anticipation. My e-mail address is androulla@androulla.freeserve.co.uk I await a response.
