[Birth Control] Alternative Birth Control Methods for age 35 and SmokingFrom: Lisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Aug 2001 14:54:01 -0500 (CDT)
I have been taking the BCP for the last several years, but my doctor says that after I turn 35, I will have to go to another form of contraception, because I smoke. For the last couple of years, I have been having very painful disabling cramps, passing large clots, and irregular periods. He has told me that he thinks I have endometriosis. I don't want the side effects of depo shots, and also have heard that the IUD can cause cramps and heavy periods, of which I already have. Which contraception method could I switch to without having the heavy bleeding and more cramps? I have not been back to my doc yet. Thank you, Lisa
