I was prescribed Dianette at the age of 15 as a last resort to try and tackle my acne. I have been taking it since as both a contraceptive and an extremely effective way of keeping the acne under control, I have never suffered any side effects. I am now 23.

Since being prescribed with Dianette my GP as changed my prescription twice, once I was changed to Microgynon, I didn't get on with it at all put on a fair amount of weight and my period pains were terrible so I asked to change back to Dianette. I continued on Dianette until 5 months ago when my GP suggested I try Cilest. Reluctantly I said yes.

I have been taking it now for 5 months and at first I didn't really notice any change but recently my skin has been terrible and I have become unbearable to live with approximately a week before my period is due. I am extremely paranoid, over sensitive, teary and my mood swings are uncontrollable. I have made an appointment to see my doctor within the next week with a view to changing back to Dianette. My question is if being on Dianette so long is dangerous and if its not why does my GP insist on trying me with other pills when I am perfectly happy and balanced on Dianette?

Can you help?

May thanks
