Lump and CalcificationsFrom: Tracy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Jul 2001 14:34:04 -0500 (CDT)
I noticed a lump in my breast about a month ago. It is located between my right collar bone and the fleshy part of my breast. In other words, its high on my breast, not in the portion that is covered by my bra. When I first called my doctor, she told me to wait until my current menstrual cyle ended to see if anything changed. It did not, so I was scheduled for a mamogram. The mamogram showed calcifications. And, they've indicated that it doesn't appear to be a cyst. I'm now scheduled for a biopsy. In your forum (and others), I've found discussion on calcifications alone, but not when found with a small lump. Are the chances of malignant cancer greater when calcification is found near a lump? I'm 37 and have no history of breast cancer in our family.
