Upsetting O.R. story..would appreciate opinions!From: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 29 Jun 2001 20:33:39 -0500 (CDT)
Hi All: Today I was talking to an O.R. tech that I know and she was telling me about a situation that happened in her assigned O.R. Apparrantly, there was a patient who had a very erotic, explicit tatoo in her pubic area. The O.R. staff got quite a kick out of it and before she knew it, O.R. staff from other areas of were coming in to look at the tatoo after the patient was asleep, before the procedure began (gynecologic)anyway, the physician involved is my physician and I have had numerous surgeries with him. I am not proud of my body..I am overweight (working on losing weight with diet and exercise) and I am totally appalled at the fact that something may have been said while I was under. I worked at this hospital for a number of years. Where I work now, this does not go on and the staff is VERY professional, noone is running in the room for the sake of "just looking" ...only people directly involved in the surgery are in the room. This girl also told me that people actually request to be in this doctor's room. She also said that he just kept smirking as people were commenting. I am very upset by this and am considering pulling my records and changing to someone else only because I now feel too self-concious to be around him! After years of respecting his professionalism with me and the way I could be open with him..I now don't trust him! I might mention that this girl happened to be related to the patient but noone knew. Has this happened in your O.R.?? Should the doctor have stopped it?? (I think so). Comments/Opinions??
