There are a number of chemical markers that can be tested for that have some predictive value for different cancers. Some, like the prostate specific antigen, are pretty good for screening purposes. Others, like the Ca-125 for ovarian cancer, are very poor for screening, but good for monitoring treatment response. You would need to talk with your doctor about what, if any, blood tests might be helpful for you.
