atypical sqamous cells of undetermined significance with history of hpv

I am a 35 year old with a history of hpv 15 years ago. In April, my obgyn informed me that my pap results came back with ascus. She also told me to use monistat and come back in three months. I understand and am comfortable with that part. My concern is: Could the hpv from 15 years ago have anything to do with these results? This is my first abnormal pap smear. I've had them done since I was 18. Thank you.
