Heavy periods & conceptionFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 14 May 2001 16:03:56 -0500 (CDT)
For as long as I can remember I have had heavy periods. Over the past couple of years these have been accompanied by rather large clots. I have had scans and was told that my ovaries are in good condition and that I suffer from dysfunctional bleeding the cause of which is unknown. My doctor prescribed me transexamic acid to take 4 times a day for 4 days just before my period is due to start, this does calm the bleeding and clotting but on occassion makes me feel quite sick. I have stopped taking this medicication as I am trying to conceive and have now once again witnessed how uncomfortable clots can be - if you suffer from clots does it effect your chances of conception and is it best not to take transexamic acid whilst trying to conceive? I would appreciate any help or reassurance! Many thanks, Amanda
