Accidental Ligament Cutting during Tubal Ligation...From: crozzz5 (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 3 May 2001 16:05:11 -0500 (CDT)
During a Tubal Ligation about eight years ago, the physician accidently cut and cauterized a ligament to my left ovary...and didnt tell me about it until weeks later when I complained of pain in the area (pain that periodically returns even now)...At the time, the doctor said it should not cause any problems with my health later on. Last year I went to another ob/gyn for a routine check-up and mentioned the pain I'd been having and the fact that my PMS is severe every other month...so, I then had an ultra-sound and the ovary could not be seen. Then the tech saw "something" oblong shaped "on the outside" of the abdomen higher up then where the ovary should be. Ultimately I was told not to worry about it and to have it checked out later on because an ovary can "move" depending on where a woman is in her cycle. Does this sound logical to you and could there be any correlation between the accidental ligament cutting/cauterizing and the strange location and shape of the ovary, if that is what it is? The original physician has since retired.
