I am in my mid-30's and I went for my first exam a few months ago. Like the other woman who answered your post earlier, I'm also a virgin and I made frequent calls before I let it ring through and actually make the appointment and, like her, I only kept that appointment because a friend told me that if I cancelled again, she would drag me there, kicking and screaming - and I believed her!! I've had only that one exam and the worst part was the speculum, but it was more umcomfortable than painful. When you're ready, go back for the exam and I'm guessing it gets easier and easier every time. GOod Luck!
