Re: vaginal/ vulvar pain. recurring. No discharge or redness. Please Help!!!!From: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 23 Mar 2001 18:34:42 -0600 (CST)
I had the same problem years ago.... Had gone to MANY doctors, no one could figure it out... then moved to Charlotte, NC and my family doctor referred me to a dermatologist who specializes in skin problems related to the vagina and vulva... She diagnosed me as having "vulvodynia", which basically means, "painful vulva". And guess what? There is treatment! I was so depressed, I thought of suicide many times... but now I'm great after treatment! You'll need to find a doctor in your area who knows how to treat vulvodynia. There are many things that can cause this pain, and there are an equal number of treatments for this... (the pulling pubic hair sensation almost drove me crazy!... but don't give up on getting help...) My doctor was Dr. Libby Edwards, she practices out of Carolinas Medical Center in the "Women's Center" here in Charlotte, NC. Maybe your family doctor could contact her directly and get information from her.... She has dedicated her career on the treatment, study and education of vulvodynia. Good luck, email if you need to.... "lmhill at carolina dot rr dot com"
