Loestrin vs Alesse

Hi - I am a 45-yr old American. I've had good success with Loestrin, have been unhappy with the price increases. I found a Canadian pharmacy that did not carry Loestrin, but said that Alesse had the same composition at half the cost. SO, I ordered 3 mos worth of Alesse. But now when I examine the documentation it looks like the two drugs are composed differently. Alesse has 100 mg of levonorgestrel and 20 mg of ethinyl estradiol; loestrin has 1 mg of norethindrone acetate and 20 MCG of ethinyl estradiol. Am I missing something? It looks to me like these are very different drugs...maybe I'll have to stick with these horrible US drug companies.
