A question on menapauseFrom: Debbie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 9 Mar 2001 15:22:46 -0600 (CST)
This must be our families time to have hormonal problems...this question if for my sister in law. She is 30 years old and due to absent period problems, this is a condition that has been an eye sore for at least 6 years.... she hasn'y had a period in 4 months, went to her doctor who ran a series of tests, including thyroid ,diabetes AND the hormone ones...anyways her FSH level came back at 57 and they told her she was ?post menapusal? they also told her she was in ovarian failure. She is devestated of course, she has no children. We have been doing research and she does have a family history of early menapause at 40 (her mother), BUT she had a major problem at 15, her appendicts ruptured and she had periontinitis(spelled wrong I am sure), but she was gravely ill and had many tubes and surgeries. Is it possible she is menapusal at this age due to this illness??? Should she seek second opinion, we were under the impression that a second opinion on lab work is nil and void. Any information is greatly appreciated. Debbie
