5 MONTH PERIOD/D & C/HYSTEROSCOPY:Need Information PleaseFrom: Angie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 5 Mar 2001 11:23:37 -0600 (CST)
I have had a period for 5 months now. Usually bleeding for 3 weeks and off 3 days. I have had hormone tests-all fine,4 pregnancy tests- negative, an endemetrial biopsy- negative. I have had a vaginal ultrasound which showed a lot of mass inside my uterus. The doctor said it looked like an early pregnancy, but no baby just mass. But all the tests were negative. And I had a tubal ligation in 1998. So she decided to do a hysteroscopy and a D&C. Should that stop the bleeding only? Or can they find out what was causing it too? I have been bleeding very heavily for the past week. And very red and thick. More than any other period I have ever had. Sometimes my lower stomach hurts. It's been feeling like contractions. Sort of like the very beginning of labor when your not sure if it's a contraction or not. But I remember the feeling. I am 24 years old. I have had 2 vaginal births, all normal. What exactly happens during these procedures? Will they be painful? Will they make me bleed more? Can you tell me the things they could be looking for? Or what it could be? It is scheduled in 2 weeks. Please respond soon, so I can be prepared and know what questons to ask my doctor. Thanks, so much.
