11 year pelvic painFrom: Teresa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 2 Mar 2001 10:05:51 -0600 (CST)
I have had pelvic pain for 11 years now. Area of pain: Lower back, deep abdominal, hips, and legs. I am always in some degree of discomfort to pain. Pain worsens leading up to period. I have always had very painful periods - it gets to the point where I can hardly walk. I can dose myself up with dihydrocodeine (prescribed by doctor), paracetamol, and ibuprofen but still be in a lot of pain. Heat does not help much. Aromatherapy is also tried. For the past 4-5 years my periods have been irregular. They used to be heavy for a full seven days but now are heavy for two days then very light for next 3-4. It is not only at the time of my period that pain gets that bad. Also if I go for too long a walk or too often, for example on holiday or shopping. Other activities that can cause problems are: Standing or sitting for long periods, lying flat on back or stomach, stretching or bending, and pain during or after intercourse. A laparoscopy 9-10 years ago diagnosed PID - blocked tubes, adhesions and possible infertility. A second laparoscopy 4 years ago showed slight blockage at ends of tubes, some redness and no adhesions (although, I did read the note given to me to give to my doctor and it said adhesions and D&C!) Recent ultrasound and bowel exam prove to be normal. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP IN ANY WAY?!!!
