Difference Between Ovaries in PMS?

I have extreme PMS, but recently I have noticed a pattern. One month is bad (slight cramps in left ovary) and the next month is REALLY bad (slight cramps in right ovary). My cramps are extremely mild (usually one slight cramp and that's it), but mood swings, water retention, breat swelling, and severe emotional distress are a part of 1/4 to 1/2 of my month. During the REALLY bad month, I can generally expect to have PMS for at least 2 weeks prior to my period, usually beginning with ovulation. It's awful. Is one ovary worse than the other for most women? What can be done (preferably without medication) to alleviate the problem? I am overweight. Could that be a contributing factor? I've always had bad PMS, even when I was thin, but it seems to be worse now. I have also begun to get itchy nipples around my period, which never used to happen, and I believe I exhibit some signs of PCOS (especially hair growth on chin and strong urge to eat carbohydrates with little/no self-control), though I haven't been diagnosed. Any suggestions?
