PMDD is the psychological portion of PMS, not a truly separate entity although it is now accepted as a psychiatric diagnosis and is given validity. If you have a variety of physical and psychological symptoms which occur for 2 weeks maximum per month and are relieved by your period, you may very well have PMS/PMDD. If more than 2 weeks, there needs to be additional diagnoses in your workup.

Thyroid problems can masquerade as PMS/PMDD.
