Hormone and fibroid questionsFrom: Anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 25 Feb 2001 14:02:23 -0600 (CST)
My first question is about hormone replacement. I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago. I do have 1 ovary. Went into menopause 2 years ago. I have been on Cenestin 0.625mg and Prometrium 300mg. I notice a thinning in my body hair lately -do not have to shave as often. I had blood drawn to check hormone absorption and Testosterone levels- reports not back yet. I go in for my annual in 3 weeks. What could be happening? Do you think I need a change in dose? Also, is it good to stay on this dose of Prometrium for a long peroid of time? I take these meds EVERY night. I first had my fibroids diagnosed at the age of 35- had 3 small ones at that time. My hyster was at 47. At 47 , I was loaded with outer, middle and inner layer fibroids. At the age I was diagnosed, it seems like they were not removing them as they are now. I was hoping I would get to menopause and they would have gotten smaller. Does having fibroids removed at a young age help to save the uterus? It is too late for me, but I have thought about this from time to time and was just wondering- part of my mental healing process. Appreciate all your help and the kindness you have extended to all us women that have had GYN problems- this site is so wonderful-Anne
