Daughter age 10 experiencing short menstrual cycle

My daughter age 10, has been having an irregular menstrual cycle since her first cycle back in Dec. Her first period she had short time bleeding, 3-4 days and very light, 2nd period lasted 8 days and was heavier and seem to be several days early. Now her third period came at least a week earlier than expected. She has not complained of any cramping or other ailments associated with her periods.

She is a bit overweight (105 lbs) and is 4ft 4in tall (I think. and has no medical history. basically very healthy young girl.

Should this, quick cycles, be a cause for alarm? Friends have told me to take her to a OBGYN because her cycle is so short. Please advise. We are poor, without insurance and cannot really afford an unnecessary visit to the doctor. Thanks, for your time.
