Postponed Exam/Tampon Use: Follow-up Questions

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. I hesitated to post these concerns, so I was relieved to learn I was not alone in never hearing about an exam being postponed until after using tampons.

I clarified a few things with my friend. She was told to PRACTICE using tampons on the days when she does not have her period, not necessarily keep them in all day, every day. The doctor does want her to use them during her next two or three cycles, as somenone here suggested.

Okay that's the update, now on to the follow-up questions...

1. Is it necessary for her to practice EVERY day? Once she gets the hang of it, can't she just use them during her period and won't that serve the same purpose?

2. Could it be that the dr didn't do the exam so that my friend could get an idea of what to expect when it does happen? Apparently, the doctor penetrated her a few times to check the placement of the tampons. Could this have been an 'introduction' to the full exam?

I don't mean to harp on this. It's just that I've never heard of this before and, needless to say, my friend was just mortified by this whole experience.
